City of Marion Awards $150,000 to Support First Responder Behavioral Health Services

The City of Marion is proud to announce the award of $150,000 to Frontline Counseling and Peak Brain Center to provide confidential behavioral health services for Marion’s first responders. This investment, funded through opioid settlement resources, reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of the police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and other public safety professionals who serve the community every day.

Through this partnership, eligible first responders will have timely access to professional counseling and behavioral health services through a confidential referral process designed to protect participant privacy.

The program is intended to provide early intervention, reduce barriers to accessing care, and promote resilience among Marion’s public safety workforce. Services will include behavioral health assessments, counseling, and other clinically appropriate support delivered by licensed professionals.

Our first responders face extraordinary challenges in the line of duty,” said Mayor Ronald Morrell Jr. This investment demonstrates our commitment to ensuring they have access to high-quality, confidential behavioral health services whenever they need them.”

I’m thankful for the City of Marion’s commitment to the mental health of our first responders. Far too often it’s overlooked or downplayed. Having professionals who understand us is invaluable.”- Marion Fire Chief Curtis Garr

The City of Marion thanks Frontline Counseling and Peak Brain Center for partnering in this important initiative and looks forward to expanding access to behavioral health resources for those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
