IMCU Marion Branch Hosts Backpack Distribution Event

Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) is hosting a public distribution of 150 backpacks filled with school supplies on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at IMCU’s Marion Branch located at 1619 East 38^th Street, Marion, IN 46953.  The distribution event will run from 5:30 pm until supplies last.   To receive a backpack, children must be present and accompanied by their parent or guardian.  Backpacks will be disbursed to children in grades K-12, one per child, while supplies last.    
 
As of July 2015, Indiana Members Credit Union and Foundation, along with extremely generous members, have raised enough funds for their school supply campaign to provide a total of 5,000 backpacks and school supplies to underserved children.  This total is a result of selling candy at their Central Indiana Branches, as well as donations from their annual “Bowl-A-Thon” employee fundraising event, Plant Sale and the Indiana Members Foundation Golf Outing.  To date, enough funds have been raised for IMCU to donate more than 80,000 supplies. 
 
Connie Tyler, IMCU Marion Branch Manager stated, “It’s so heartwarming to see the kids come in and pick out their backpacks and school supplies.  We always receive tremendous support from the employees and their family members for this distribution event, making it a real team effort.  Many families are not able to purchase the necessary school supplies for their children and this event is one way IMCU can help.  Parents continually thank us for our support.  Knowing that our donations are making a difference in the lives of children in on our community is what this day is all about.”
