Food Safety Guidelines
1. Discuss with your facility’s food service folks (if you have food service) but our findings are soup should be heated to 1650 then maintained at 1350 -1400 for no more than four hours.
2. Please DO NOT mix new supply with old supply.
3. Please check the temperature of your soup and stir it occasionally to maintain the temperature in the safety zone (1350-1400)
4. Keep your soup covered whenever possible. We know the attendees will be interested in seeing your soup when they taste but replace the lid whenever you can.
5. Please wear the provided disposable gloves when dispensing soup. We won’t require hairnets but please plan your hairstyle for the event to avoid the need to touch your hair/face.
Event
Tickets are $5 per person. This gives the attendee the opportunity to taste unlimited soups, and then select a bowl of their favorite. They will also receive a beverage (coffee/iced tea/ water/lemonade) and a dessert. Crackers will be available at the tables, as well as mini-corn muffins (if Café Valley approves our request for donation of muffins).
Honorary Bragging Rights
First, second and third place for Best Soup will be awarded based on the number of bowls distributed by the vendor.
We hope to have Gas City “dignitaries” pick a favorite “Judges Choice” soup.
