Community Foundation Awards $350K in Designated Grants to Empower Local Nonprofits
GRANT COUNTY — The Community Foundation of Grant County is proud to announce the distribution of $350,000 in designated grants to local nonprofit organizations. These grants, made possible through the generosity of donors who have established over 200 designated endowment funds, provide long-term, sustainable support to organizations serving Grant County.
These funds, along with the Community Foundation’s 250+ other charitable funds, are a testament to the power of philanthropy and its lasting impact on the nonprofits that help our community thrive.
Designated grants support specific nonprofit organizations as named by the donors who established the funds. This year, several organizations across Grant County have received funding to advance their missions, enrich our community, and address critical needs.
“Our designated endowment funds represent the vision of donors who want to ensure a sustainable future for the organizations and charitable causes they care about most,” said Dawn Brown, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. “These grants help organizations plan for the future, knowing they can rely on consistent financial support year after year.”
A designated endowment fund is a charitable giving tool created by a donor to provide ongoing financial support to a specific nonprofit organization or cause. The principal amount of the fund is invested, and a portion of the earnings generated are distributed annually to the designated organization. This ensures ongoing annual support, allowing nonprofits to plan for the long term and focus on their vital work.
"As a result, designated endowment funds significantly contribute to the ongoing activities and missions of recipient organizations," said Brown. "The foresight and dedication of both donors and nonprofits play a key role in fostering a sustainable future for our community."
For example, a donor might establish a designated fund to support a local food pantry, arts organization, or educational program. Over time, as the fund grows, the grants from the fund increase—providing an ever-expanding source of support for the nonprofit’s mission.
This year’s designated grants are making a meaningful impact across multiple sectors, including:
- Education – Enhancing learning opportunities for students.
- Arts & Culture – Supporting creative initiatives that enrich community life.
- Social Services – Providing essential resources for families in need.
- Economic Development – Strengthening the local economy and workforce.
The Community Foundation invites you to celebrate this milestone and learn more about how designated endowment funds serve as a vital resource for supporting local charitable organizations across the community.
