Marion, IN-The Community School of the Arts is excited to announce that tickets are on sale now for the upcoming production of Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.  The CSA Theatre compANY will perform this thrilling, theatrical treat at the F. Ritchie Walton Performing Arts Center at Marion High School on October 8th and 9th at 7pm and November 10th at 2pm.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth-century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up... and the carnage has only just begun!

Featuring a complex score by famous Broadway composer, Stephen Sondheim, Sweeney Todd has brought a unique challenge to the CSA Theatre compANY.  "I think this show is just elaborate in so many different ways but the music is what is so profound to me! The accompaniment is used to show so many different levels of intensity stretching from extreme hurt and hatred to excitement and love. Everything about the chords our voices create to the lyrics that we sing just perfectly showcase this musical, and the amount of difficulty the music was to learn is purely shown from listening to it!" said Cecelia Hancock who will be performing in the role of Johanna in this production.

Stephen Sondheim's and Hugh Wheeler's tasty, thrilling, theatrical treat has simultaneously shocked, awed and delighted audiences across the world. Its challenging score of epic proportions is the perfect celebration of the end of the spooky season!

Zack Marcum who will be playing the title role of Sweeney Todd in the production shared why he feels this is a show the community will not want to miss.  "I think people will really enjoy our production of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' for many reasons. The blend of dark themes and compelling characters will definitely pull you in. I personally think that the story’s display of revenge, love, and humor make it engaging for all viewers. The intricate score is filled with memorable songs and lyrics that capture the musical's emotions and tone perfectly. Overall, the artistry and storytelling, along with our cast's extremely hard work that we've put into this production, will ensure that this show remains a memorable experience that will be enjoyable for all who come to see it!"
