MJH Musician Selected for Prestigious All-State Ensemble
MJH musician selected for prestigious all-state ensemble
A McCulloch Junior High School student has been selected for a prestigious all-state ensemble that will perform at the Indiana Music Educators Association’s upcoming annual conference.
Samuel Davies was selected to participate in the Indiana Bandmasters Association’s Junior All-State Band, which features 100 students in grades seven through nine from around the state. Samuel, an eighth-grader, was previously selected to perform with the IBA All-Region Honor Band; Marion High School hosted that concert in November at the Walton Performing Arts Center.
These honor ensembles are a great opportunity and give students a chance to learn and grow as musicians. To be selected for these honors, students are nominated by their band director, and nominations are then evaluated based on several criteria to select members of these talented groups from across the state. Selected musicians have been notified and were tasked with practicing the musical selections in preparation for the upcoming performances.
The IMEA conference is set for Jan. 15-17. Times for specific group performances may be available closer to that time.
Davies joins several other MCS students whose honor ensemble selections have already been announced and will also perform at the IMEA conference:
Marion’s outstanding representation during this music-filled weekend is a testament to the hard work and dedication our students display every day in the classroom, and to the excellence, skill, and professionalism that our music educators bring to their work all year round.
We are proud of all of these Marion Giants!
