Indiana Wesleyan University Receives Gift of The Center for Sports and Physical Therapy and The Wellness Center from Alumni Lee and Lori Smith

MARION, Ind. (March 17, 2026) — Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) announced today a generous gift from alumni Lee and Lori Smith. The gift includes ownership of The Center for Sports and Physical Therapy, with locations in Wabash and Marion, as well as The Wellness Center in Marion.

“We are grateful to Lee and Lori Smith for their remarkable generosity and for their enduring connection to IWU,” said Jon Kulaga, Ph.D., IWU’s president. “Their lives and work reflect a deep commitment to caring for others, and their impact has been felt by families throughout our region.”

The Center for Sports and Physical Therapy and The Wellness Center will continue serving the communities of Grant and Wabash counties through rehabilitation and wellness services for years to come. Lee Smith will also continue practicing as a physical therapist in the facilities.

“IWU has been a big part of our lives for nearly 50 years,” said Lee Smith. “First as students and later through my connection to the university as a track and cross country coach, IWU helped shape our faith and our commitment to serving others. Lori and I have been blessed with an incredible staff who care deeply for the people of Grant and Wabash counties, and we are grateful for the opportunity to make this gift to a university that shares our values, faith, and mission.”

Over the years, The Center for Sports and Physical Therapy and The Wellness Center have provided care to thousands of patients and have become trusted resources for health and wellness in the region.

“We are thankful for Lee and Lori’s generosity and for the legacy they have built through these organizations,” said John Jones, IWU’s vice president for university advancement. “Their investment in people and in this region has made a lasting difference, and we are deeply grateful for this gift.”
