UW Names Johnson New Impact Coordinator
UNITED WAY OF GRANT COUNTY WELCOMES KAYLA JOHNSON AS NEW IMPACT COORDINATOR
New full-time role is made possible through grant funding from the Community Foundation of Grant County
Marion, IN – April 4, 2025 – United Way of Grant County is thrilled to welcome Kayla Johnson as the organization’s new full-time Impact Coordinator. This new position, made possible through generous funding from the Community Foundation of Grant County, represents a strategic investment in strengthening local partnerships, increasing community resilience, and advancing youth literacy across the county.
A longtime community advocate, Kayla brings over a decade of experience in public service, grassroots leadership, and resource coordination. In her new role, she will lead youth literacy initiatives, support community events like Day of Action, collect and track impact data, and foster collaboration with schools, nonprofits, and libraries across Grant County.
“Kayla has a heart for this community and a gift for building authentic, collaborative relationships,” said LeeAnna Smith, Executive Director of United Way of Grant County. “She brings experience, energy, and empathy to everything she does. Thanks to the support of the Community Foundation, we now have the capacity to take our impact work to the next level—and Kayla is the perfect person to lead that charge.”
Originally from outside the area, Kayla moved to Marion in 2012 after graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University with a degree in International and Community Development. She has since worked with the City of Marion, Marion Utilities, the Marion Public Library, and Main Street Marion. A certified Master Gardener and AmeriCorps alum, Kayla also volunteers with the Marion Community Gardens and serves on the boards of Circles of Grant County and the Affordable Housing Corporation.
“I am honored and excited to step into this role!” said Kayla Johnson. “I love this community, and I hold so much hope for us to grow and continue becoming our best selves. Being able to work alongside so many incredible people—connecting resources, solving problems, and investing in literacy and education—is such a meaningful work and I’m eager to get started.” Kayla is known for her friendly, positive energy and practical approach to community building.
