Jarecki Appointed IUK Dean of Students
Amy Jarecki appointed as IU Kokomo’s Dean of Students
KOKOMO, Ind. — Amy Jarecki has been appointed Dean of Students at Indiana University Kokomo. In this role she will serve as the principal representative and advocate for all students, overseeing student life, the resource navigator, student programming, and judicial affairs.
Jarecki plans to be IU Kokomo students’ “biggest cheerleader” in this new role.
“I truly have a passion for helping students discover themselves, discover their purpose, and help them find their sense of belonging,” she said. “I know what education has done for me. It really gives you a sense of agency over your life and your career. I want to do what I can to help students persist to graduation. That may be looking at removal of barriers, connecting them to resources, or just cheering them on. I want them to know I believe in them, and I’m here to support them.”
She’s met student leaders since her arrival in April and looks forward to working with even more students moving forward.
“I like to be visible on campus, attending events and talking to students,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to getting in the mix of things in the fall semester.”
Chancellor Mark Canada welcomed Jarecki to campus.
“We are very fortunate to have someone with Dean Jarecki’s depth and breadth of experience,” he said. “She brings a lot of knowledge, as well as positive energy, to IU Kokomo.”
Jarecki previously was dean of student affairs at Indiana University East, where she collaborated with several offices to create a one stop shop to more effectively serve students, and had responsibility for integrating Student Affairs with Academic Affairs. Also at IU East she had served as dean of students and associate director of financial aid and scholarships.
She earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law, a Master of Occupational Therapy from University of Indianapolis, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from IU Bloomington.
Education is KEY at Indiana University Kokomo.
