VIA CREDIT UNION WINS STATE LEVEL AWARDS
Via Credit Union was recently named the First Place winner of the 2024 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award by the Indiana Credit Union League (ICUL) for credit unions with assets between $250 million and $1 billion. Additionally, ViaCU earned Second Place for the Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award and received Honorable Mention for the Desjardins Youth Financial Literacy Award.
ViaCU was honored with the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award for engaging members of the community with fun, interactive financial literacy activities during the CIC Football Day at Indiana Wesleyan University's Wildcat Stadium.
The Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award, which celebrates credit unions that excel in applying credit union philosophy, was awarded to ViaCU for helping students in the Warsaw community build early money management skills through the opening of a student branch at Jefferson Elementary.
ViaCU also received the Desjardins Youth Financial Literacy Award for introducing debit cards to Teen Club members, empowering them to gain financial independence under parental supervision.
" Via Credit Union is dedicated to our mission of 'People Helping People Achieve Financial Success', it is at the core of everything we do," said Cindy Kohlmorgen, ViaCU’s President/CEO. "This honor reflects not just our efforts, but the collective dedication of our entire team to making a meaningful impact in the lives of our members and the communities we serve. It is truly humbling to receive this recognition from the Indiana Credit Union League."
Nominations were reviewed and judged at the state-level, and ICUL announced the winners at the 2024 Annual Meeting and Convention in Indianapolis on October 4.
